  • Big School Birdwatch

    Fri 13 Feb 2015 Year 1

Year 1 recently took part in a national Big School’s Bird watch, for the RSPB. We looked carefully in the playground, around school and in our gardens to try and spot different birds. We learnt about each type of bird, where they would be hiding and what they like to eat. We saw lots of pigeons, but the magpies were our favourite.

  • Visit from the Leicester Fire Brigade

    Thu 12 Feb 2015
Things certainly heated up in our school playground today, but for a very important reason. The Leicester Fire Brigade visited us today, to highlight to families the dangers of cooking with hot oil. Through an explosive demonstration, they showed use the dangerous effects of what happens when water is used to put out an oil fire. The message of fire safety, especially the importance of working smoke alarms, was clear to all. We encourage all who were there, and who read this know, to check their smoke alarms.
  • Y4 Trip to The Natural History Museum

    Wed 11 Feb 2015
As a part of their explorers topic, Y4 were explorers themselves, exploring the wonders of the Natural History Museum. They explored everything, from the dinosaurs to blue whales and everything in between, with some even brave enough to hold a live snake (while the adults sat squirming at the back!). In particular, their focus was exploring predator and prey relationships, looking at how different species have adapted for survival. They day was a great success, so thanks to all involved!
  • Internet Safety Day

    Tue 10 Feb 2015
The 10th of February marked Internet Safety Day; a very important date in our school calendar. In an increasingly technological society, we understand the importance of keeping our children safe online. Therefore, throughout the day, lessons across the school focused on staying safe online. Through video clips, discussions, artwork and drama, pupils across the school explored how to stay safe online, and the importance of doing so. For example, Year 6 created videos for the rest of the school to watch throughout the year, to act as a continued reminder on the importance of internet safety.
