Links with the Healthy Child Programme Nurse

Our Healthy Child Programme Nurse (School Nurse) for this year is Ammara Bhayat. She is based at St Matthews Children Centre on Vancover Way, Leicester.

Ammara has been into school to meet with our SENDCo and School Mentor and is already working with children to promote healthy lifestyles and better choices.

We work closely with her in a range on different ways. Currently we have to offer:

Parents and Family Drop in Clinics (Wednesday 24th January and Wednesday 28th February) in the Community Room for 9am - 10am. Parents can talk about concerns regarding for example:

  • Behaviour
  • Sleep
  • Continence
  • Emotions
  • Healthy Eating
  • Dental Health

In the Spring term parents evening, she will be available to meet and chat to if required.

As a school we can refer children to the school nurse to support with a variety of medical needs that we may not have the training to do

The service also provides ample training for school staff in Asthma and Anaphylaxis to ensure we are best equipped to deal with the medical needs of our children.
