KS2 children prepare for the 'Poetry By Heart' competition (13th February 2020)

This year, children in KS2 (year 3 - 6) have the opportunity to enter a national poetry competition run by Poetry By Heart!

The competition heats will be run by year groups in the next few weeks, and the finals will be held on Thursday 13th February 2020, at 13.45pm.

All you have to do to enter is:

1. Choose a poem you love

2. Learn it by heart

3. Perform it in school

4. Enter the key stage 2 national competition

It’s about helping all pupils choose one special poem to learn from the Poetry By Heart collections. These collections offer children a diverse and enticing mixture of poems, classic and contemporary, surprising and familiar, that are all perfect for speaking aloud. Some are by famous poets of the past such as William Wordsworth, Emily Dickinson and Robert Louis Stevenson; others are by some of the best living poets who write for children today such as Jackie Kay, Philip Gross and Rachel Rooney.

The collections include a wide variety of times, styles and voices from the UK and the wider world and they have been chosen to give everyone a chance to find their own special poem.

Good luck KS2!
