Welcome to Sutherland, Churchill and Wilne class!
Throughout Year 6, the children will be learning about diversity and respect through our theme 'BUILDING A BETTER SOCIETY'.
Key concepts such as SOCIAL MOBILITY, INEQUALITY, POWER OF GOVERNMENT, JUSTICE, RESPONSIBILITY TO SOCIETY, WEALTH DISTRIBUTION and CULTURAL EXPERIENCES are built into everything we learn. (See Concept planning link below)
In Year 6, our children hone their critical thinking skills through topic work including the following outstanding literature.
Our Year 6 children also have the opportunity to study and perform a Shakespearian play; engaging in the language and developing a love of the literature whilst promoting oracy.
Previous performances have been:
The Tempest 2013
Twelfth Night 2014
A Midsummer Nights Dream 2015
Romeo and Juliet 2016
It was lovely to see so many children had gained Year 5 badges and were wearing them on their jumpers coming up to Year 6. We are proud to say that even more children have gained their Year 6 Bronze badges and are now working towards Silver. Badges are earnt by following our School Aims and our Keys to Success.
PE is every Friday afternoon and children should bring their PE kit in a bag with their name clearly labelled. Earrings and other jewellery should not be worn on that day.
