SPRING TERM 2021
Due to the lockdown, education is now online and at home for most Year 1 pupils.
Live online lessons in Year 1 start at 9:30 a.m. and last until 12:00 p.m.
We use Microsoft Teams and lessons are accessed via the link emailed to all parents of Year 1 pupils*.
*Anyone having difficulty accessing the live online sessions should contact us directly via email, telephone the school office or use the contact form on the website.
Most days there are 3 live online lessons. Each lesson lasts around half an hour. There is a 'break' between lessons giving children chance to stretch their legs, go to the toilet and get a drink. Children must also complete a short task set by the teacher in that time.
The live online lessons reflect the curriculum intended for Spring Term*** in as far as possible. The lessons are supplemented with extra activities (see below) that ideally children attempt with some adult support in the afternoons. This helps children cover as much of the 'normal' curriculum as they can.
***For detailed information on the curriculum intended for Spring Term (pre-lockdown), please see our Medium Term Plans (MTPs) on the Year 1 Curriculum and Class Page.
To continue learning offline, children use the homework pack provided at the start of the academic year (or when they joined the school). In addition to an advice sheet for parents, the homework pack has resources to support practising handwriting, spelling, phonics and counting.
To continue learning online, children can use Purple Mash** or any of the websites we have recommended.
**Anyone having difficulty accessing Purple Mash should contact us directly via email or telephone the school office or use the contact form on the website.
