At Medway, we are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all of our pupils whatever their needs or abilities. Our educational aims for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are the same as those for all children in the school.
A child is considered to have Special Educational Needs if they have learning difficulties that make it significantly harder for them to learn compared to most children of the same age. These difficulties may come in different forms and could be emotional, sensory, physical or communication based. Medical needs which may slow a child's progress are also considered to be special educational needs.
Not all children with special educational needs are lower attaining. However, they face additional barriers to learning which we can support them in overcoming.
We have developed a provision statement, which included information on the provisions available, responsibilities and procedures.
If you are concerned about your child’s learning or progress please speak to their class teacher or Mrs Weathers, who is the school’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) co-ordinator.
Please complete this form if you have any queries around Special Needs and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
